fiber577 is an annual two-day art exhibit that highlights fine art from a wide variety of contemporary fiber artists. This non-profit exhibit is organized by a team of artists whose mission is “to expose our local community to the most relevant regional artists who display exceptional creativity in the field of fiber and fiber–influenced mixed media, from the exquisitely crafted traditional to the groundbreaking experimental”. This year’s juried show will be held June 8th and June 9th, 2013 on the beautiful grounds of The 577 Foundation in Perrysburg, OH, home to the annual juried Fiber Art Show since 2008. Several of my pieces will be in this show, including “Passages”, the black&white stitching of which appears behind the text on the postcard. In addition, a project by Fiberforum, “Overheard at Bass Pro” will be on display. My contribution to that is “Houseboat” which can be seen in the September 2012 archive. More info on Fiberforum is at https://sites.google.com/site/fiberforum/
I belong to a group of northwest Ohio artists who use fiber media and techniques, Fiberforum. In addition to our own personal work, our group often works on collaborations, where each artist adds to or modifies each other’s piece in a round-robin fashion. We had a show of our work at the Walter E. Terhune Gallery in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Owens Community College in Toledo, OH. The show, titled “Women Working Together” was up Feb 21 – Mar 23, 2012.
